Weyerhaeuser
Quadrant Homes, a subsidiary of the Weyerhaeuser Corporation is one of the largest manufactured
home producers in the Pacific Northwest. As one of the leading producers of manufactured homes
in the region, Quadrant Homes also leads the industry in deceptive, unethical and environmentally
harmful practices. The manufactured home building giant falsely advertises its homes as "built
green," when in fact, the manufactured homes are constructed of timber stolen from the indigenous
territories of the Grassy Narrows people of Northern Ontario, Canada.
The Subsidiary of the Weyerhaeuser Corporation, is
like its parent corporation, in the way that it is a
disgrace to the homebuilding industry and a
disgrace to all that is right and ethical. In a purely
corporate greed based practice, Quadrant Homes
knowingly deceives both its homeowners and
homebuyers in falsely advertising their homes as
"built green" and "environmentally friendly." The
corporation when asked why they use wood stolen
from Grassy Narrows First Nation Traditional
Territory simply passes the blame stating that it is
no their choice, but corporate policy.
The wood being used to build these manufactured homes is wood stolen from the Grassy Narrows First
Nation Traditional Territory; Land that rightfully belongs to the Grassy Narrows people, of which have
been living off of for thousands of years. The land still is held dear to the people of Grassy Narrows,
many of whom still live off the land, of which essential for hunting, gathering, and ceremonial purposes.
The traditional territory that holds deep cultural and spiritual meaning to these people is being torn
apart right before the indigenous community, to be stripped and sent to the Kenora, Ontario
Weyerhaeuser Trus Joist Mill, then to be processed and shipped out to build Quadrant Homes all
without the consent, nor approval by the community of Grassy Narrows.
Our goal, for what we are pushing for, is not for
Quadrant Homes to stop building manufactured
homes, but for Quadrant Homes to simply make a
conscious decision to stop using wood from
endangered forests, and indigenous territories,
and instead use actually environmentally
sustainable wood sources such as FSC Certified
wood. FSC Certified wood is certified by an
independent third party organization, that ensures
that the forests logged are not from indigenous
lands, and that they are logged in a sustainable
practice, and kept to be sustained in a sustainable,
ecologically friendly practice. The switch to FSC
Certificated timber would not affect Quadrant
Home's profits, way of business or practices, but
would create a world of difference.
Until Quadrant Homes decides to stop supporting the destruction of indigenous territories and
endangered forests, we ask that you refrain from purchasing Quadrant Homes Manufactured Homes.

Homes and Weyerhaeuser accountable for their actions, then please visit join our Action Network.
